Beddi the Smart Alarm Clock from Witti Design Review

Isn’t an alarm clock an app? No my millennial readers, it used to be a device people would buy to wake them up. Everyone uses their phone for an alarm now, unless you’re my dad who still uses a stick in the ground and the sun. But Witti are here to bring back the alarm clock in a big way with Beddi. This device will work with your phone, and create a better wake up experience.

I was majorly impressed by the amount of features they had packed into the Beddi. There are 3 programmable buttons, which can be set to control smart devices around the house. There are multiple USB ports to charge other devices at the same time, it can be set to play white noise while you sleep, and has a back light which can turn on when you wake up.

One big plus for me was the smart buttons. I linked them to my LIFX bulbs in the living room. So when I go to bed and I forget the lights, I can click one button and they go off. Then when I wake up I can turn them on before I even get into the room.

The backlight is a great addition. Now when the alarm goes off, there is a slow rise in brightness from the clock, to help me wake up. Coming into winter, this is a much needed feature for me, as I tend to find it harder to wake up.

I really found myself using the white noise option while I slept. I use a fan at the moment, as its hot. But in the winter, I don’t really want a fan blowing on me.

I really like the retro look of the Beddi. It has a big soft speaker section on the front, with the time clearly shining through it. The space for the phone in the top holds the phone really securely, while still giving me a good look at it.

The app itself can use some work. It has the function but not the polish of a seasoned app. I would hope the design and look of the app itself gets updated to match the look of the Beddi. I can use the app to make all the settings, and set my alarms to link with Spotify, but the experience is a bit clunky.

Overall the Beddi is let down by the lack of polish on its app. But that’s certainly no reason to not buy it. The Beddit itself looks great, and the functionality it offers are a big advantage to the various ways people sleep. You can pick up the Beddi for £99.99 which isn’t too mad of a price. Sure the app needs updating, but the hardware is solid and functions great!
