EE Power Bar

Power bars are becoming part of normal life as mobile usage has grown faster than battery technology. It doesn’t help that top brands like Apple are putting under 2000mAh batteries in flagship phones so that they look better rather than work better. Motorola and Samsung are slightly better, sticking to batteries which are at around 2500mAh and HTC and Sony going all out at around the 3000mAh mark.

If you have a phone with under 2500mAh and have a busy day or a weekend away from a plug socket you will most likely need a powerbank. These come in many different shapes and capacities from 1500mAh to 30000mAh beasts. While not expensive it can be hard to know which ones might blow your phone up! Also you may resent having to carry around a brick in your bag to change your £600 phone.

EE have learnt from sponsoring Glastonbury festival that people need power; taking 10,000 selfies in a day will be harsh on any phones battery and the EE recharge tent gets thousands of people using it during the festival. So they thought why not let customers charge their devices when and where they want with the EE power bar. A free 2600mAh power bank that will charge most phones fully and quickly enough with a 1A output. It comes with a micro usb cable (used on pretty much every android and windows phone device on the market), iPhone users will have to bring their own cable as it would seem that EE didn’t want the hassle of getting the device apple certified just to give it out for free.

The EE power bar has a few extra features as well, such as; 4 small LEDs which indicate how much charge is left within the bar; a dull orange LED on the cable to help you find your usb port in the dark without blinding anyone; and a bright white LED torch for finding your tent zip at 2am. You can charge your power bar at home and keep using it again and again, or you can swap it for a fully charged one at any EE store for no cost.

So if you’re an EE, Orange or T-Mobile customer and have been in your contract for at least 3 months, text POWER to 365 and get in line for one. EE had a MASSIVE response to this offer with over 1 million requests in the first four days, so the next batch of codes will be given out after June 24th.
