The Philips 8800 UHD 4K is part of the Philips 8000 series, which all offer the Philips Ambilight feature and Android.

Within the 2014 8000 series is the top end Ultra HD 4K resolution 8800 series and full HD 8100 and 8200 TVs. These models will be available from Q2 2014 in Europe. The 2014 Philips 8000 models are the first Android based TVs coming to Europe. They provide access to popular Google services and features including Google Chrome, YouTube, Google Movies, Google Music, and Google Search. Philips TVs powered by Android now deliver on speed and content by combining a quad core processor with Android, one of the most widespread operating systems in the market today.

No word on pricing just yet but this is a DroidHorizon first. I don’t think we’ve ever written any content on actual TVs before but the Philips 8800 series caught my attention in a big way and it’s too awesome not to share..

Also featuring gesture control features that you’d be familiar with on the XBox One or Kinect. You can change the channel or volume with pre-defined gestures or use your phone or tablet via the Philips TV Remote application.  Featuring Miracast technology to share between TV and device, the Philips 8800 series would likely sale for just under £3000 GBP. Probably too expensive though for the average working man, we can dream, right?

Chief Editor of DroidHorizon. I own a few different devices at the minute and enjoy writing reviews and sharing what I think is cool. You can often find me playing Playstation 4 or sprawled across the couch with headphones on (maybe with a nice beer or gin & tonic in-hand)
