So I got my Nexus 4 the second time they came available on Google Play.(UK) Couldn’t get the official bumper though. Sold out!  What to do? So I hit Amazon and Ebay, the usual places, to see what’s about. Not a lot at the time except those awful awful S-Line case things. Grrrr Then I stumbled on the Poetic brand….
In use
This case will protect the front and back when you set in on the table or other surfaces. That was my main worry about buying the Nexus4, glass on the front and back is crazy talk. Also this bumper will add resistance to people’s slippy phones that happen to move by themselves. (Never happened to me without a bumper. More internet complaints.) Also adding a tiny bit more width but not enough that it would worry anyone in the slightest.
Looks
Black high gloss with a more dull Grey matte trim, this doesn’t look too bad. If I’m honest I’d have liked a better trim finish. Not those fake chrome but it’s plastic things but something actually black, not grey. The Borderline Bumper does take a bit of sexiness away from, what I think, is a good looking device. Why did they add a Grey trim?  No idea.. It keeps your device safe and sometimes that’s all that matters.
Materials.
Built from Thermoplastic Polyurethane with a glossy Polycarbonate finish with Grey matte edges. It’s hard shiny plastic with a dull Grey more rubber edging for normal people.
Size/Fit
Zero issues here. Snug as a bug in the rug. Snaps on with a wee bit of force and has stayed tight for over a week. All holes and volume rocker are cut well and I must mention there’s a bit of stiffness behind the button press on power and volume. I like this because the case is taking the brunt and my keys/ buttons might last a little longer.
Conclusion
I have zero issues recommending this bumper case to anyone. It’s widely known that the official case from LG/ Google is a superior product but what good is it if you can’t buy it? Poetic are selling this for under £10, that’s postage and packing included, in the UK. I’d say buy it, feel a bit safer setting your new phone down and wait to see what the availability of the official is like. More to put your own mind at rest and not worry about scratches and unpleasant goings on.
