PUK Game Review

PUK

With PUK the incredibly simple idea of the game is to hit solid circles (portals) with your transparent circles (I’ll call them PUKs) before the time runs out. Your PUKs are located at the bottom of the screen and you pull back on them (Angry Birds catapult style) to repel them upwards to hit the portals.

However you can’t mess around lining up the perfect shot. Ain’t nobody got time for that. You’ve only got a few seconds to hit all the portals and go on to the next level or else it’s game over. Larger portals take a few hits before they disappear and in later levels walls appear to block your path. To make things a little easier you can ricochet your PUK against the edge of the screen to reach those hard-to-reach places, and even shake your device to try and turn a miss into a hit.

One issue I had was that your PUKs are located at the bottom of the screen and flinging downwards can sometimes mean your finger ends up on one of the capacitive buttons, thus interrupting the game. With a little care this can be avoided, but again this could be a greater problem depending on the layout of your device.

Although long-term appeal may be limited, with it’s distinctive minimalistic style and frantic gameplay PUK delivers a good blast of action for the casual gamer.
