RAVPower 4-Port USB Charging Station – Review

No matter how many chargers I buy, there is always the need for the ability to charge multiple devices, at the same time, with ease. When at work I would love to have a device to charge my phone, tablet and mp3 player quickley, before I have to leave for the train. Then RAVPower sent me their 4-port charging station, and was exactly what I was looking for.

This wall charger is a little black box with 4 USB plugs and a power plug in the back. To avoid any confusion while using it, there are no buttons, or switches, it is just a box. A nice little blue light indicates on the front face (where the USB plugs are) letting you know the box has power to it. The power plug is a simple two-prong type, which is mentionable as it can be easily replaced.

It’s small and weights very little. While charging, it doesn’t get hot and doesn’t make a noise. This wont work as a USB hub, but to be honest thats good for me. I just wanted a wall charger

The built quality is durable, lightweight and the ports are solid and of good quality. It does exactly what it sets out to do, plug into the wall and charge 4 devices at the same time. The unit is so lightweight though, that it doesn’t really offer any resistance when plugging in a cable. That means, anytime you plug or unplug something, it normally turns into a two handed affair.

The power cable is a bit heavier then the box itself, so I would recommend either placing it more on the desk, with some cable on the desk itself. Or use some form of velcro to secure it. I wouldn’t use this as a bedside charger, as the blue indicator is extremely bright. In a bright office, I can understands it as you want to see clearly its plugged in. But in the dark it can be a little distracting.

As a last gripe I would of prefered all four ports be 2.1A plugs, as only two are and the other two are 1A. More and more devices are getting power hungry and I dont think 1A ports will be able to cut it in the future.

RAVPower as a brand is known for consistently producing high quality products that make our lives easier. I would recommend picking a couple up to have at home and at the office.
