OnePlus One Bamboo StyleSwap Cover

So you are one of the 520 million people who purchased a Chinese OEM android Device in 2014. Want to make it a bit more Chinese? What’s more Chinese than Bamboo?!… Well lots of things, but Bamboo is just amazing; it feeds adorable pandas, is used as scaffolding, and can even be used as clothes!

OnePlus originally had plans for to produce seven varieties of StyleSwap covers but being that they are in their first year their plans were a bit ambitious, which is a massive shame as I would have loved the denim one. But after a few issues they have managed to get the Bamboo case out to market. Unfortunately, to get one of them you have to get an invite to buy it, just like the phone.

The StyleSwap case arrives in a beautiful box in the same style as the OnePlus One. Inside you get two sim card converters in tan (to match the cover), instructions and a small pick to open up the phone. You will notice that the bamboo cover is a bit larger than the sandstone cover in both width and depth and the camera no longer protrudes out of the back of the phone.

The cover fits perfectly as you would expect from an OEM product. It feels amazing because it’s made of real bamboo and not vinyl. Everyone who has seen my phone with the bamboo loves it, it really makes it stand out from other phones (well apart from the Moto X with bamboo). The larger back adds a bit of a curve which feels slightly better in the hand. One really nice touch is that there isn’t a FCC blarb stamped on to the back of the cover so it looks clean and pure, just how it should be. There are only two downsides to the bamboo case; the OnePlus logo doesn’t look too good as the bamboo has absorbed a bit of the paint making it look a bit blurred; and the antenna look like they are made from silver instead of gold. I’m not sure how much this will affect the signal but it’s something to consider, especially as the case is slightly thicker.

If you fancy mixing it up the case is definitely worth getting, if you manage to get an invite. If anything it will help a fellow One user spot you in the wild… unless you’re hiding in some bamboo..

Link to the store…but you will still need an invite.
