This compact water resistant speaker has an aluminium shell with matte black plastic at the top and bottom. It has a fairly slim design which delivers audio from its dual 5W speakers. At the top there’s large rubberised buttons for power, pairing / answer call, play / pause and volume / skip tracks. In the box you also get a wrist strap, an instruction leaflet plus Micro USB charging and 3.5mm audio cables
Despite the compact size, this speaker has a nice weight to it and the aluminium gives it a premium feel compared to a lot of the plastic speakers on the market.
Pairing was straightforward and I soon had it connected to my phone and pumping out tunes. Bass was excellent with decent mids and highs – although I did notice a little loss in clarity to the high end. Overall it gave a pleasurable listening experience for the price. As expected for a speaker this size, it doesn’t get overly loud for outdoor use. However it’s plenty loud for indoors and even at full volume there was very little distortion.
This speaker is rated as having a whopping 10 hour battery life and despite a fair bit of use I still haven’t managed to kill the 1800mAh battery. Once it has been depleted you just need to recharge it for 3 to 4 hours using the supplied USB cable. Bluetooth reception was also good with very few dropouts.
Overall for the current £25/$36 asking price there’s very little to complain about here as this is a well made, nicely designed and decent sounding speaker with great battery life (plus it can handle the odd splash). Pick one up from the links below…
