Review: The MightyPack from Speck

Review: The MightyPack from Speck

Speck are a big name in cases for smartphones, but have recently released the MightyPack to the market. This backpack is for the tech obsessed commuter, who needs space for their laptop, tablet and protection for their more valuable tech.

I was impressed by the initial look of the MightyPack, I had been sent the Coal dust black colour, and it looked cool and professional. It’s an incredibly thin bag, but when you open it up, you can see any of the bulk comes from padding. Every inch of pockets and compartments are padded. It offers great piece of mind when it comes to packing your tech into a bag, as bad things will happen, and you need to make sure you are protected.

There are pockets galore on the MightyPack, more then I would care to count. The front pocket, contains various smaller mesh compartments which allow me to store various items. With the addition of a small hole into the back, so I could place a battery in the front and cable it through the back to charge my laptop or tablet. The back compartment is big enough to store a 15″ laptop, and with the huge amount of padding at the bottom I had no fear of placing the bag down with a little bit more force than normal.

The USP of the MightyPack has to the be the, Tech Locker. It is a pouch at the top, along the front of the bag. It is protected with a semi-rigid shell, and is lined with a plush vegan fur, this means I could chuck my phone in and not worry about the screen being scratched or the phone damaged.

The comfort level of the MightyPack is up to debate. I found the bag incredibly comfortable, using it for a couple of weeks, with my laptop and charger. I then lent it to a mate for a week, and he came back saying the straps were too thin and become uncomfortable. So I think it all comes down to the weight put in and the user’s preference.

At £59.99, the MightyPack isn’t cheap. But its not a huge investment into what I think is a great gadget bag. I would of liked to see a free battery thrown in to change the devices being carried around, but who in this day and age isn’t rocking at least 3 portable batteries. Overall I recommend this for the professional commuter, who is travelling a lot, and carries a couple of different tech devices.
