Global travel search engine Skyscanner has seen an increase in the number of UK travellers booking via mobile devices by 151% in the past year, and today it launches a newly optimised flights app.

The intuitive app delivers personalised, relevant and inspirational travel information at the touch of a button.

With the original app having been downloaded over 35 million times worldwide, these new updates are in direct response to changes in user behaviour patterns.

The latest update includes the following key features:

Everywhere Search

The new design makes the inspirational “Everywhere” search more accessible and interactive, allowing users to browse through many different locations around the world and find the best deals from their local airport.

Ratings

Flights can be ordered not only by price and duration, but also by take-off and landing time, or by ‘rating’ – which takes into account the price, number of stops and duration, with shortest and cheapest flights highlighted.

Recent searches

Recent searches are now available from the home screen, so users can pick up their search where they left off and with a log-in feature these searches are synced between all devices.

Top Offers

This section shows the best flight deals to destinations all around the world from the nearby airport. This way travellers can see and select options even without typing anything.
The free app, available from Skyscanner.net/mobile, has been created following extensive research in the UK and Europe, and will streamline the travel process for customers. The app is currently available for iOS operating systems with the App Store and will be available on Android shortly.
Hayley Smith said:
“At Skyscanner we have a long history of innovating and introducing the latest technology to help our customers.

Our approach to mobile continues to evolve as our customers’ user behaviour does.  We noticed our users use our apps to browse through different options and get inspiration for their next trip. Therefore, we wanted to make our app even more optimal for this purpose by improving current functionality and adding new features.

“This latest version of our flights app is another way we are making travel easier by delivering the latest and most relevant information to our customers at the tap of a finger.”
