Stickman Downhill – Review

I’ve never seen the attraction of the stickman character, and in writing have never seen a stickwoman, which makes me think the world of stick people is very gender biased. Stick politics aside, Stickman Downhill is a free dirt bike game, which utilises both touch screen and rotating the phone itself.

The premise of the Stickman Downhill is very simple, cycle and brake your way across each level as quickly as possible to gain the most stars. When a target is reached you then unlock the next level and you continue like this through the game. The brake and accelerate (peddle) buttons are on the left and right of the screen. You then have to control the angle of your stick cyclist, you do this by rotating the phone left and right. These controls work perfectly, I didn’t have a single problem controlling my little guy cycling down the hill. The on-screen buttons hide automatically, which means no screen space is taken over by giant buttons. If you aren’t a fan of tilting the phone, then you can switch on the button controls, but this can start to get a bit complicated, especially when the game hides them.

Stickman Downhill comes with Google+ integration, allowing you to show off your high-scores to your legions of followers. When you achieve stunts and jumps these will then also show up on your Google+ stream. The whole game plays really well, and is exceptionally fun to play. My heart even jumped when I crashed for the first time, the devs have obviously put some time and thought into this game. Stickman Downhill though free is ad-supported, to remove the ads you will need to pay £1.73.
