If you can’t get enough of “The Boxtrolls” you no longer need to spend £10 to go see it at the cinema. You can sit at home or anywhere really and play “The Boxtrolls: Slide ‘N’ Sneak” published by RED Games.

Being the official game you get artwork from the film, sounds and even voice acting blended seamlessly into the gameplay. For the grand price of £$0.00 you get 30 levels spanning 4 different areas of Cheese Bridge all straight from the film. The idea of the game is to slide and jump through the levels collecting cogs (the in game currency), think Leo’s Fortune without the puzzles. It can take a bit of getting used to dodging obstacles and collecting all the cogs possible in each level but almost anyone will be able to get used to it rather quickly.

During your progress of the 30 different levels you can unlock 10 different Boxtrolls each with their own unique abilities such as smashing barrels that get in your way, gliding in the air and attracting cogs. Once unlocked you can take up to three of these Boxtrolls along to help you as the levels get harder and harder. If you are still struggling you can use an array of different gadgets such as a funky wrench to disable traps, paratroll to float in the air, sneakers to get extra sneaking points. Most of these gadgets will cost cogs so grinding the levels for currency or real money is needed in the last few levels.

Even with all the good points this game is a free game with IAP so it has adverts and lots of them, some even before the game menu shows up including video advertising. You can remove them for £0.61p so if you do enjoy the game its not to much of a price to pay. While this game loads fairly quickly and smoothly on my Nvidia Shield Tablet the same can’t be said for my Moto x loading times are long and not helped by the adverts. In addition a fair few people are reporting loading errors on older or medium range devices.

If you want a simple slide and play without Boxtrolls check out the classic “Dragon Fly” or if you wished it was a bit harder with puzzles check out “Leo’s Fortune”.

Quick youtube video of the game if your not sure to download.
