Top 5 Radio Streaming Apps

on air radio apps

Let me start by saying that I personally feel radio is not something I use much day to day
Its far too easy just to have the music you want to hear on a device and stream it to your handy bluetooth device. But what if you want to keep up to date with news, maybe find new music or maybe you just like a bit of banter between songs? Then you will have to listen to good old radio. Sure you can just go to the station you want to listen to and hit the listen live button but why restrict yourself to the same station when we have a world of stations and what seems to be a new internet radio station starting every day.

Here are my Top 5 apps for radio streaming.

orange radio

No.5 Orange radio
Stumbled across this app. Developed by the people of Orange Network it is unlike some radio streaming apps, Listen2myradio I’m looking at you, easy to navigate. with nice big buttons on the homepage making it handy if you stream in the car. It does seem to be restricted to UK stations not a bad thing I guess if you just want local stories and news.

No.4 Radio FM

RFM is pretty basic but easy to use allowing you to browse by country. (Germany has 1064 stations!) simple long press will let you add a station to your favourites. You can also set a timer so you can listen to some tunes as you go to sleep and be sociable by sharing what you are listening to with links to FaceBook and Google Plus.

No.3 Listen2myradio
Used by many small start up stations but only handy if you know the name of the station you are looking for. I couldn’t find and easy browse option which is a huge let down for what could be a brilliant app. If you are ever thinking of starting your own radio station go to the website Its very helpful you can even start up for free!

No.2 Internet Radio

£3.99 gets you the premium version of this app for 12 months. This will remove ads, choose the quality of the stream, set a timer, and record, Hands up those who remember recording songs off the radio! You can of course get a free version that is still very good, the settings allow you to adjust the audio and decoder for buffering and a function to stop the app once you unplug the headphones, Brilliant! browse and search the stations you want to hear with ease.

tunein

No.1 tunein
The most popular radio streaming app you have probably already got it, Buy a smart tv and this is probably already there for you to use. It has everything you all these other apps above have including a car mode, I know this feature might not be a big thing yet but if you have good quality 3/4g with unlimited usage and a bluetooth radio in your car you could be listen to a Californian radio station as you drive on the b roads of Yorkshire.
