World’s first 48K 360° video with Xperia Z5 Compact

Sony has created a 360˚ video shot entirely on 12x Xperia Z5 Compact devices

Last month Sony headed out to Rise Ski & Snowboard Festival in Grenoble, home to the largest skiable glacier in Europe, with eight of Europe’s best Instagrammers – to see what would happen when the world’s best camera in a smartphone* met Les Deux Alpes. They asked each to stretch Xperia Z5’s camera capability to its limits across a number of challenges – including fast autofocus to capture movement, action and snow spray on the slopes, 5x Clear Image Zoom for beautiful backdrops and low-light technology for the festival after hours – as you’ll see, the images speak for themselves.

Instagrammers who took part included @akusepp, @le_petit_francais, @christianmcld, @mesvoyagesaparis, @s_timmung,@ahtlaqdmm, @peppyhere and @berriestagram.

Sony also created a 360˚ video shot entirely on 12x Xperia Z5 Compact devices, each filming simultaneously in 4K. They wanted to capture scenes from the slopes, from gravity defying freestylers to high-speed races. They then edited to create the world’s first “48K” video to show you just how great the camera technology of the Xperia Z5 is.

The video is completely interactive, so you can explore the slopes using the on-screen navigation keys. The experience will be even better if you watch on your Z5 or using a Google Cardboard or VR Headset and the YouTube Android App. It’s like you’re there yourself.
