Worms 2: Armageddon – Review

There are a small amount of games which when released on a mobile platform gain almost instant popularity. Worms 2 is one of those games which was released and quickly picked up by their waiting fan base.

This games is hailed as being bigger and badder than the previous titles and this is true. With more weapons and customization is game is a big leap from the original worms.

It contains thirty single player missions from five new themes that include Construction, Cheese, Manhattan, Medieval, and Sports. You also see the return of all the classic Worms’ weaponry such as the Holy Hand Grenade, Concrete Donley, and Ninja Rope.

There are also new weapons such as Petrol Bomb, Super Sheep, Pneumatic Drill, Poison Strike, and much more. You can feel this game is a first release as the control feel clunky and take a bit of getting used to. You aim your weapon by dragging on the screen, you can move your worm holding down on either the left or the right of the screen. You can jump by flicking your worm on the screen.  I will say that the lack of an in-game tutorial baffled me. Reading through a help guide is not a good way to learn the controls and I hope in future releases they include some form of a tutorial.

One new feature for the game is the ability to customize your worms and gravestones. This will provide hours of fun, making your worms look how you want and also the ability to have humorous grave stones when they get killed by flying sheep.

When you get used to controlling the worms, then the game goes to an entirely different level. Moving the soldiers around feels almost fluid. Menu navigation for selecting weapons, which is an important factor when you’re being timed, is very touch-friendly.

The graphics are great and have not lost any of the style in this port to android. The worms on the other hand don’t look great, but I feel this may just be down to the lack of zoom during gameplay. You have the same sounds and music as you did on the pc version. There are lots of different gaming modes and even the option to play against a friend on the same wifi as yourself.

You can download Worms 2: Armageddon via Google Play for £2.99, this price tag is a reasonable price for this game being it quite a big download and lots of fun.

Play link for the game is included:
