Daddy Was A Thief – Review

This is a simple great looking game to pick up and play. Its a fine example of a casual game, but looks can be deceiving. Once you get passed the good looking graphics and simple gameplay you start to notice its a simple drop down game with little reward at the end.

You play as a rotund father, who takes up the striped shirt and black mask due to him losing his job. And its from that point you start by finding yourself trapped on top of a tower block and the only way to escape is down, and how to fat men move around? By bellyflopping! You collect coins on your way down and they can be used for power ups and costumes. You can though get them quicker by purchasing more coins for cash.

There are free ways of getting down faster and cheaper, you can jump in a bath tub, and you’ll drop through a couple of floors. Jump on a fridge and you’ll protected for a brief period of time. There are also a number of obstacles including, cops, old ladies, and lasers that shrink you if they hit.

You also get rockets flying from all sides, SWAT teams try and shoot you, and occasionally you’ll drop into a pinball machine and be buffeted around while grabbing coins, why theres a pinball machine in a building I don’t know. I know what you’re thinking, It all sounds quite exciting, and for the first 20 mins it is. But after a while the beer goggles wear off and you’ll notice you are just dropping down a building.

The need to get to the “bottom” is a slight incentive, but this game never plays on it. For a free game, its fun. The IAP’s don’t make it impossible to ever complete it, but its just not a very exiting game.
