Dat Gif – Android App

Everyone knows the internet was built for pictures of cats, be it the nyan variety or just the regular. On most social networks .gifs can be played in the stream, this means we start to see the short animated pictures becoming really popular. For me, I love to share a .gif or two on Google Plus and I’ve found a great source to share with readers of DroidHorizon. Dat Gif offers a clean and easy to use interface for spamming your friends or followers, the app does one job but it does it very well. Sometimes that’s all people want. Well, in this case anyway.

You’ll notice from the screen shots above that you’ll find nearly any subject you search for. The convenient “Trending” tab offers a range of .gifs that are popular right now, when you find something you like, you have a few options what to do next…..

  • Share  Shares the image as an image. This opens the very very awesome Android share intent. (Androids’s best feature still?)
  • Share Link Shares as a link ( obviously. )
  • Pin Pins your discovered .gif in your “Pinned Gifs” tab to view later.

Users can view the .gifs in the thumbnail view or tap to view full screen. Here you’ll find an advert that really doesn’t get in the way, it isn’t obtrusive or covering anything so you hit it by accident. For me, I don’t mind adverts like this. Actually, the developer has an option in the settings to go pro for 62p (British Pound Sterling) to remove the ads and buy him a coffee. Prices like that wont break the bank, if you’re a nice guy / gal we’d recommend doing so.

Dat Gif looks great, has loads and loads and loads of .gifs for every occasion. (Not all great though, again, this is the internet of things so you’ll see a lot of crap too.)  Powered by Giphy which is a popular site for people like myself who like to share pictures of Batman on a Saturday. #Baturday

Chief Editor of DroidHorizon. I own a few different devices at the minute and enjoy writing reviews and sharing what I think is cool. You can often find me playing Playstation 4 or sprawled across the couch with headphones on (maybe with a nice beer or gin & tonic in-hand)
