Droid World returns to San Francisco

Droid World

Droid World are always a must-see draw and at Apps World North America this February, Droid World, which is free to attend, is set to be as big an attraction as ever.

There will be a number of top speakers confirmed already, including representatives from Expedia, Target, The Weather Channel, Google, Orange, and SwiftKey.

Day one will see Tony Donohoe, Senior Director of Mobile Engineering at Expedia, presenting on the role of QA automation in a multi-device and OS environment whilst Wallace Jackson, author of Android Apps for Absolute Beginners, will reveal his secrets of Android coding to optimise app performance.

Also taking place is a keynote talk looking at the new Android operating system KitKat, as well as a session on Google Glass – the latest must-have gadget.

One app that is leading the market currently in terms of user experience is Swiftkey, the app-based predictive software keyboard. CTO Dr Ben Medlock will be joining the Droid World agenda in San Francisco on day two.

His presentation on inference technology and human thought looks at the emergence of inference technologies to model the decision making abilities of the human brain – a topic already highlighted as being of particular interest by Steve Wozniak at our European show. Ben’s talk draws not only on his SwiftKey experience but also his PhD in computational linguistics gained at Cambridge University so is definitely a must-see.

Chief Editor of DroidHorizon. I own a few different devices at the minute and enjoy writing reviews and sharing what I think is cool. You can often find me playing Playstation 4 or sprawled across the couch with headphones on (maybe with a nice beer or gin & tonic in-hand)
