Google Currents Updated..

Google Currents Updated..

Beautiful, free, favorite publications for your phone and tablet.

Google Currents delivers beautiful magazine-like editions to your tablet and smartphone for high speed and offline reading.

Google Currents has been just updated and the following features have been added..

* Edition sidebar – quickly access your editions within categories such as business, sports, etc.
* Fast scan – Vertical swipe to scan an edition, horizontal swipe advances to next edition
* Edition-section chooser – Choose “Customize” to filter out sections
* Unread marks – Read stories are marked. (Setting to hide)
* Breaking stories – ranked by Google News. Links to full length content.
* Saved stories – star for future reference
* New catalog design
* Widget

If you weren’t sure to ditch Google Reader yet, this update might just make you think again. Really liking the sidebar and breaking stories layout and looks more like the new YouTube app. Google going for a more consistent UI across their apps? Sounds good to me.

You can grab the update from Google Play and take a look for DroidHorizon. We added a Currents edition when it first got released. Not sure many have added us but we’re there non the less.

Chief Editor of DroidHorizon. I own a few different devices at the minute and enjoy writing reviews and sharing what I think is cool. You can often find me playing Playstation 4 or sprawled across the couch with headphones on (maybe with a nice beer or gin & tonic in-hand)

    Thanks for commenting. I Think Currents will be replacing Google Reader very very shortly. I don’t think people will like that. People don’t like change.

        Glad Currents didn’t go too much in the direction of Flipboard. It has the looks, features and all the news feeds you’ll need.
