HTC M8 Otterbox Defender Case – Review

When I held the HTC M8 my first thought was, I have to protect this device. The M8 is a lot of hardware and from having reviewed cases for the HTC One, I knew there was only one case I would need. That was the HTC One M8 OtterBox Defender Case. This case comes with 3 main sections, and offers the most protection for a phone I have ever seen. The phone is covered in a hard shell, the screen is protected and even better, it looks good in pink.

This is the first case I have used for the M8 that offers 100% protections from screen to button controllers as well as shield every inch of your phone. It has a shock-absorbing build quality and only uses high-tech materials. It can offer this much protection by using a multi-layer system.

To “install” your phone into it, you remove the soft outer layer, and then unclip the hard plastic case. Your phone then goes inside and is clipped in, the soft shell is then put back on. There is a clear plastic cover that is pre-built in, which means no air bubbles while trying to apply it. This allow you to still see, and use your phone while protecting it for mud, rain and hail. By using the hard and soft method, your phone is protected, but also still feels good to hold. Where if it was just a hard-plastic shell, it wouldn’t feel as nice.

This case is an absolute breeze to use, and very easy to apply to your phone. The defender model also comes with a clip back, which fits over the case, allowing you to clip your phone to you, your bike or 4×4. The features of this case include:

  • Shock-absorbing high quality case
  • With impact-deflecting materials that cover your device from bottom to core
  • With a built-in screen protector that guards against damage and impacts to your touch screen
  • Made of high-impact polycarbonate shell and durable silicone slipcover
  • Offers a multi-layer case made to withstands drops, bumps, dust and shock
  • Durable and free of scratch case
  • Best used in demanding conditions, heavy use and random accidents

I will admit that this case will add some bulk to your phone, but I found it won’t affect how you use the phone. The added bulk is necessary, so it is quickly forgotten about as you go about your day to day. There is hardly any weight added to the phone and this is another sign of the great build quality Otterbox keep offering.

There are a lot of cases around, but there are only a select few that aim to offer actual protection to your phone. The Otterbox Defender is one of those few, this is classed as overkill protection as it is the entire phone thats protected.  I’ll admit the pink did get me some funny looks, but if you are sure you don’t want this fantastic pink colour, you’ll be happy to know it is available in different colors so try to pick the one with the greatest attraction and experience a peace of mind forever!
