Review: Lindy IEM-50X

The in-ear headphone market is swamped just now. There’s likely thousands of different products available for people to buy. Prices start from as little as under 10 bucks going straight up to a couple of hundred. Our own Accessories section  has loads of various options already, but, I think we have something here that’s a little bit different with the Lindy IEM-50X.

It’s all about the dynamic bass control system with the Lindy IEM-50X. There’s a twist control on each side of the buds that opens the rear chamber to add more depth to the bass, instead of relying on software tweaks or gimmicks. I think this is a pretty cool feature and something that made these little headphones stand out to me. As you can see from the images through out this review, the IEM-50X’s come in a traditional black with red trim design, no other colour options are available unfortunately. The cable is a flat tangle free TPE (Theromplastic Elastomer) which is fairly typical at this price grouping and something that should be standard across the board.

I’ve had zero issues with Lindy IEM-50X build quality or comfort whilst wearing for extended periods. I got these in the post about three weeks ago and have worn them nearly every evening whilst writing other articles on the site. Sometimes for around 4/5 hours and also walking home from work. The default buds fit and stay in my ears without any issues. Yeah! I have average ear canals! If you have any problems, Lindy provide a few alternative tips with a larger/ smaller fit or flat shaped design with a large/ average/ small fit. These headphones are built to last, you’ll be reassured when you open the packaging, these aren’t some cheap awful Chinese rubbish. Lindy are a German company, we all know how great German engineering is.

Each of the IEM-50X’s earpieces feature a unique Dynamic Bass Tuning rotary control which allows you to gradually switch from the standard neutral voicing of the earphones to a more bass rich sound. This mechanical feature opens the rear chamber of the earpiece like I mentioned to give added weight and depth to low frequencies. Although I’m not a massive fan of earphones that are more bass heavy, I find the IEM-50X to be boomy with great depth. Mids and vocals aren’t strong and neither is the top end, across the soundstage the emphasis is obviously more to the bass and percussion. These buds are perfect for all types of EDM, Electronica and HipHop, that’s not a bad thing but that’s not all I listen to. Although noise cancelling is something that doesn’t feature much in the documentation or listening, I found the IEM-50X to offer a fair job in this department, if you happen to be interested.

iem-50x-hi-fi-in-ear-headphones-with-dynamic-bass-tuning-p2651-6096_image The Lindy IEM-50X offer great comfort and terrific build quality but aimed towards the bass lovers. If this is your specific music style, you’ll love these bad boys. The dynamic bass control offers something a little different to the rest out there, with a pretty common design style that may be a little played out by now. These are built to last from a company that manufactures various  noise-cancelling headphones, KVM switches and  network cables. Priced at just under £50, I’d have no issues recommending the Lindy IEM-50X to our readers or any potential customers in the market for a more bass heavy in-ear headphones. (Sorry for the stock pictures, this was requested by the PR company)

You can purchase the Lindy IEM-50X direct from the company HERE with shipping costing £3
