Review: The Bluetooth smart bulb from Revogi

This is my first experience with a smart bulb. Revogi were more then happy to send me across their smart Bluetooth bulb for me to try out. The bulb can fit into any standard socket, and once paired with their app, I can control up to 10 smart bulbs from my phone at the same time. The app allows me to control the standard functionality such as simply turning the lights on or off, play with different color combinations and even schedule a timer for the bulbs to operate at certain times during the day.

When the bulb arrived, I opened the box and found the smart bulb and an instruction manual. I found it easier to download their Smart Bulb App using the instructions as it provides a QR code. The bulb itself is very similar in size to a normal household light bulb. Though the Revogi bulb is significantly heavier than your household bulb, it weighs around the same as my M8.

Installation of the bulb is simple, I just had to screw the bulb into a light socket and then turn the power on for that light. Then open the Revogi app and connect to the bulb via Bluetooth. This involves turning Bluetooth on the phone on and then searching for the bulb, connection took 2 mins for me. As I tend to find with smaller companies the Revogi app isn’t great to look at, but it is very easy to use. You can turn the bulb on and off, you can adjust the colors (too many to list), you can adjust the brightness, I even discovered a “disco mode” which will change the color to any sounds your phone picks up. A great feature is, by setting it in the bedroom, I can drift off into sleep with slowly dimming lights. Then wake up naturally with automatically increasing light in the morning.

After using this for a couple of weeks, I felt I needed to replace all the lights in my house with this bulb. Its incredibly environmentally friendly as its LED, which also means it’ll last for ages. There is a slight issue with the price, as at the moment its £60 to buy for one bulb. I feel this is a lot of money to part from.
