Review: Xenta XForce 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers Review

I have reviewed a couple of Android TV boxes over this year, see link – droidhorizon.com/?s=minix. They have always worked really well, but I was always so underwhelmed by the sound my TV produced. Thats why I was happy to see a package arrive from Xenta, their 5.1 Surround Sound speakers.

The big box that arrived included a sub woofer, four satellite speakers and a centre speaker with remote control. Set up took me a little while, as there is no indication which speaker goes where. But logic prevailed when I realised the speakers with the shorter cables, must be front facing. All in setup time was around 20 mins. It gives off deep bass, and clear treble.

Features include:

  • 5.1 Surround Sound: Immerse yourself in movies and games with a full 360 angle for audio.
  • “Simulated 5.1 Mode”: Enjoy a 5.1 surround sound effect even from 2-channel stereo sources.
  • Real-time Bass Equalization: Maximizes bass response and minimize distortion.
  • Ported front-firing Subwoofer with 5.25″ Drivers to Enjoy deeper bass.
  • Wall-Mountable Satellite Speakers: Just rotate the stands to switch from desktop to wall.

  • Total Peak Power: 140 Watts at<10% THD
  • System THD: Better than 0.05% THD before clipping
  • Signal to noise ratio: >95dB
  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Driver Size : 3″+1″ (silk tweeter) high excursion satellites, 5.25″ Long throw woofer.
  • Subwoofer – Depth 25.5cm, Height 21.0cm, Width 23.0cm

I found the satellites and the subwoofer allow really low frequencies, and it’s got a great range. I also love that I had plenty of customisation on the remote, volume control for each pair of satellites, type of surround, bass/mid/treble and a separate volume for the subwoofer. The setup of my living room meant that I had to really push to get a good reach for the rear speakers, but in a normal house hold they’d have a good reach on the cables for the rear satellites. The subwoofer wasn’t too big either and fit on my TV shelf perfectly.

Build quality I cannot fault apart from it would be handy to have either manual volume controls or an lcd screen so you can see what you’re actually doing, all you have got is a blue led point out of the subwoofer that flashes when button on remote control is pressed.

A couple of negatives, the blue light is always on which can be annoying. I have to turn it off at the back in order for it to go away. The other issue is the standby sound on the subwoofer, there is a noticeable hum, but I found with some wiggling on the connection that can go away.

I would really recommend these speakers, thanks to the low price tag £50, and the fact they can be up and running in 20 mins. They are great for any Android TV box, or anything else for that matter!
