SleepPhones Wireless – Review

If you’re like my wife and enjoy listening to music in bed, then you’ll probably know how uncomfortable it can be leaning on your pillow and having your earbuds burrow into your skull. The SleepPhones offer a really comfy solution, with these soft headbands coming in both wired and wireless models. Allowing you to easily pair and listen to music, without getting tangled up.

The idea of the SleepPhones is that a comfortable fleece lined headband houses headphones. This then allows you to listen to music without having to have ear buds shoved into your ear canal. This comes in wired or wireless, but both look exactly the same. I will admit I felt silly the first time I tried them, but they are really comfortable and much better then headphones.

Due to the design, they sound really good and I have been told block out my snoring. The wireless model I am using paired with a smartphone in no time, and was a very simple process. Whereas the wired SleepPhones simply plug into a phone or computer. The only bulk to the entire band is from a small square receiver inside the headband, this is for charging, controlling volume and initial pairing.

Pairing was an absolute breeze, simply turn on bluetooth, hold the button on the SleepPhones and then select to connect. Did it first time with no issues whatsoever. This box also has a micro-usb port, allowing you to charge the band with the cable provided. I also tried the SleepPhones out with a laptop. Using the bluetooth connection was no problem and they connected perfectly.

The main focus for the SleepPhones is obviously comfort as you’ll be wearing them for 8 hours or so, but that doesn’t mean the sound you’ll get out of them is poor. These headphones are actually capable of dishing out some good-quality sound, while also doing a good job of blocking out other noises.

It’s probably also worth mentioning that the SleepPhones can also be used with an accompanying mobile app, which provides calming sounds and tunes to help you drift off.

You can get a pair of wired SleepPhones from around £30 on Amazon, with the wireless model coming in at closer to £60. On the SleepPhones website, a wired set will cost you £29.99, whereas wireless SleepPhones will set you back £69.99.

But the question is are they worth the money? The answer for me is yes. Whilst I did think £60 is steep for a simple pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones, the SleepPhones are really comfy and great to sleep in. Even though I was impressed by the wireless SleepPhones, you can get the wired model as it’s half the price and just as nice to wear.
