Unicorn Beetle PRO Series Full-body Hybrid Protective Case M8 – Review

Sometimes a smaller case isn’t enough, and you just need moar protection. Who you gonna call? SUPCASE for their Pro Series full-body case. Its a big case, and offers the level of protection a hiker or adventurer would need. Its full body so covers the entire phone and offers port covers to protect your ports from lint and sand.

This is very well made, it can be fidley to put it on and take it off, but thats not a bad thing. The hinges on the port covers are quite tight, so they tend to push back on the headphone connection and usb cable, which may cause some long term issues. My big issue was the screen cover, this for me didn’t really work. I had issues texting, using swype and swiftkey was sometimes impossible. My fix was to restart the phone and it appeared to work for a bit, then break again. I have since removed the screen entirely and recommend perhaps selling it without the screen as well.

This phone is full body protection, so there going to be a bit of bulk. Having looked at Otterbox cases in the past, this is definitely a contender. The case is made from a hard plastic and a harder kind of rubber for reducing the impact. The plastic shell fitted perfectly around the phone, and the rubber which goes around gives it a nice finish.

Much like its younger brother this also has the see-thru power button allowing for the IR blaster to work.. I love the response it gives when pressed. The speakers aren’t covered, so though you don’t lose the great boom sound, there are areas of the phone which aren’t protected.

Overall the phone didn’t feel that bad with the case on. Its difficult to judge as with these kind of cases, you expect to have some weight and bulk. But after a while, you tend to forget the size difference and just go on with the case as it is. Though I haven’t dropped tested the case, It feels safe and that it could withstand a drop if that ever happened.

This case screams overkill to me, and not something I would use day to day. Though would be good to have if you’re out and about and may be worried about protecting your dear phone. Its on at Amazon for £17
