TimePIN – Review
Any good bank heist film will always have a timer code involved, this is always the drop in the film and this is something they cant normally break. Now you can have this kind of security on your phone with TimePIN, where the code for your phone changes every minute.
TimePIN was created by developer Justin Case, Justin is well known around XDA for his rooting tools. The premise of this app is simple, when the keypad is displayed, the code will change every minute. The codes come from the digits on your system clock.
So for example, you might unlock your phone by typing 1456 when the clock reads 14:56. However, that is at the simplest level, TimePIN offers three modifier setting which add little changes to format of the code: reverse, mirror, and double. There is also a custom offset option that can add or subtract from the generated PIN.
All of these can be used together, allowing for a very complex code. The dev has mentioned these settings are only the beginning and will be adding more over time. If you want to see what you code will look like, you can tap on the ‘Demo PIN’ option, this will pop up a toast message with a PIN generated from your current settings. This means that when opening your phone, you have the pin staring right at you in the top corner of your phone.
TimePIN doesn’t require root, but you will have to authorize it as a ‘Device Administrator.’ This app is very efficient and only runs while the lockscreen is visible, there’s no reason to worry about battery usage.
TimePIN is free at the moment, but it will be at a cost soon enough. If you are paranoid about the security of your phone, then I recommend gabbing this app. Its unique style of security is refreshing and genius.
