The apps we can’t live without
Ok, most of the team have posted their apps, so I guess it’s my turn. These apps are essential to me, but may vary drastically to what those of you reading this have installed or consider essential, that’s just one of the great things about Android…choice, and customizing your device to your needs.
So, in no particular order…
My launcher of choice, like most of the team.
Voodoo Sound Plus / Voodoo LOUDER (paid)
Depending on the Samsung, I’ve had one of these installed since the Original S. Still no sign of Voodoo Sound Plus for the Tab 2 though Supercurio assured me the project wasn’t dead.
I pretty much always have music playing throughout my day, and this is literally the only form of radio I listen to. The Pro version allows you to record streams, but I very rarely use it.
For me, the best local music player. Looks great, sounds great, reads all my music’s tags correctly, and supports high bitrate files. The dev is quick to respond to any issues or requests too.
Gives me full control of my amp from all of my devices, anywhere in the house.
As far as I’m concerned, this should be Android’s default photo browser.
I like tweaking pics on my devices, and I’ve found that this combined with Photo Editor (below) let me do pretty much everything I want.
Speaks for itself.
Aldiko Book Reader / Aldiko Sync
Been using this since my first Android, Sync is particularly handy, being able to pick up any device and continue reading from where you were on another device is invaluable.
Years ago I used to own a Siemens S25, one of it’s features was being able to record a call by pressing a conveniently placed dedicated record button. This app is the nearest I’ve come to that convenience on Android. Sometimes you just can’t lay your hands on a pen and paper, with this, you don’t need to.
Needs work, like the option to re-order notes, and password protection, but a brilliant little app all the same.
Another app that speaks for itself. Go Pro, it’s well worth it. Chuck Norris mode FTW 😉
I can’t count the number of times this has come in handy.
3 of my devices are Samsungs, forget Kies, or needing to connect to a PC to flash, do it all from your device, and keep root (Pro only).
Everyone has their favourite file browser, and for their own reasons, this is mine. Once you get used to it you’ll most likely stick with it, just don’t expect HOLO.
Update 16/06/13: Just been updated to conform with HOLO, looks great.
Like the rest of the team, I’ve no interest in ads, annoying enough on a PC, they can be rage inducing on a small screen. Thankfully most apps have a paid, ad free version, but this is handy for the ones that don’t.
