Review: Y-CHARGE and FLYP-DUO from TYLT

Review: Y-CHARGE and FLYP-DUO from TYLT

When reviewing the ENERGI case from TYLT, they also sent a couple of cable solutions, the FLYP-DUO which is a reversible USB cable. It has a micro-USB connecter with a lightning cable attachment. The second product is the Y-CHARGE [QUIK], which is a dual USB car dock, so you can use quick-charge technology to charge two devices.

FLYP-DUO

At Droid Horizon we are all about the droid (Android), but we are aware there are those who like to mix their devices, which means there is going to be a lot of cables around the home. Being a true Android fanboy, I was just happy to have a microusb cable, with a reversible USB connection. So it can go into the USB socket either way up and it’ll connect. But when my dad is round with his iPad, it means I now have the option to charge it while he is there, and it means he doesn’t need to carry a spare cable with him.

I had no issues with charging or transferring data with either connection. Charging times and file transfers used the same situation, and both came up to the same performance of the generic cables for either device.

This is good to have around the house, it means that you have the option to help out a friend in need, if their iPhone is running out of charge at your house. The reversible connection is a massive bonus and great to have.

Stats for nerds:

  • Features a reversible USB-A plug for hassle free plugging in
  • Has both a micro-USB and Lightning end to allow you to charge a micro-USB device or Apple iPhone/iPad with one cable
  • The flat ribbon prevents the cable from tangling with itself
  • 1 Meter of length is perfect for your car, desk, or around your house
  • Available in 4 vibrant colors

Y-CHARGE

My dad has a single USB socket in his car, and thats currently used for his Kindle, so the Y-CHARGE from TYLT was designed for him, creating 2 USB ports, which goes into the cigarette lighter socket.

When inserted it supplies two USB ports with quick-charge technology. Thats right it supports Quick Charge 2.0. This means that products that support it, can be charged 75% faster, through your car’s cigarette lighter socket.

When testing it out, I was amazed by the results. I was able to charge an S6 Edge and HTC M8 phone from 0 to 100% in just under 2 hours, which is great when compared to the 1.5 hour charge time on the included quick-charge cable.

Stats for nerds:

  • Dual USB ports
  • 2.4 Amp Output
  • Compact and Durable
  • Charge two Smartphones or Tablets Simultaneously
  • Certified Product

TYLT has these available now, and are a must-have for the device owners around you. I cannot be the only one that wants to charge multiple devices in the car, or need a lightning cable when I least expect it.
