Review: Washable Waterproof Keyboard from Xenta
There are those of us who like to keep eat at our desk, this means food and “waste” gets in and around your keyboard. This is a common problem, and solved by either banging the keyboard upside down, or removing each key one by one. Xenta have come up with a great little idea, with a waterproof washable keyboard. For under £20, its a nice idea and allows people to have a good wash of their keyboard whenever they want.
This keyboard was really straightforward to install, you get the keyboard itself with a little brush to get in and around the keys. It was USB and Windows 7 downloaded the drivers in about 2 mins. Then after that I was typing away with no problems. There is a kickstand on the back to angle the keyboard to allow how people type.
This keyboard wasn’t made to wow anyone, or have some fantastic feature, it’s a simple white keyboard. The only “feature” is the ability to clean it. I tested this by dropping ketchup, mayonnaise, tuna, and marinara sauce all over it. Then I popped it in a sink full of water and left it overnight, then put it up to drain it. I was informed that it has to be submerged up to 6 inches, but apart from that it can get nice and wet and given a good scrub.
Its quite satisfying to be able to clean a keyboard which is covered in lots of food. Once I scrubbed it and cleaned it, it was then put back into the computer. It then acted like nothing had happened, it powered up and worked straight away.
Stats for Nerds:
- No setup required just plug & play
- Fully submergible up to 6 inch
- Durable keys up to 5 million key strokes
- 1.5metre USB cable
- Adjustable height
- Full size UK layout
- Low profile quiet operation keys
- Windows & Mac Compatible
For only £19.98 this is a great idea for children, or any particularly messy eaters. It can be washed and dried, then used again like nothing happened. Check it out below:
