We’re approaching the end of our reviews of LG G4 cases being considered for the round-up feature of the best, but I’m happy to say that the DILEX Pro case from Seidio has a few tricks up it’s sleeve that certainly make it a worthy contender.
The DILEX is a dual-layer case with the inner TPU layer having a “Hexguard” honeycomb texture that provides additional cushioning to the G4 during a drop. Adding the durable polycarbonate outer shell offers great overall protection without significant weight or bulk – the combination is only 2mm thick. Unfortunately this is still a little too thick for the phone to fit in my micro USB dock, but cut-outs are well positioned and sized allowing you to connect most other accessories.
The outer shell is coated with an amazing soft touch material that just feels fantastic in the hand. I’ve tried quite a few cases in my time, and Seidio beats them all with the feel and grip of this material. While it slides easily in and out of a pocket, there’s no slipping once it’s in the hand. It’s available in black, garnet red or royal blue (pictured) and I think the metallic matte finish really makes this a great looking case.
It’s easy to fit and remove, but not so easy as to get accidentally removed during a fall. The TPU creates a nice lip around the front of the phone that will stop the screen making contact with flat surfaces during a fall.
Moving on to those tricks I mentioned, and the first can be found on the back in the form of a metal kickstand. The kickstand is sunk inside a slightly raised bar which is flat compared to the back of the G4 and acts as a stabilizing foot when the case is left face up. The stand stays inside this bar thanks to a powerful magnet, and it’s just a matter of pulling it out with your nail and the stand snaps to a 45 DEGREE angle allowing the G4 to stand up in a horizontal position. This works well and is fairly stable as long as you’re resting it on a flat surface.
The other innovation with this case is the optional holster. This has a powerful belt clip at the back that rotates to allow your phone to be worn at any angle you choose. The phone (with case) fits inside the holster with the screen facing inwards against a soft felt material. A large clip at the top of the holster keeps everything locked in place, while allowing the phone to be quickly removed when needed.
With it’s top quality build materials the DILEX is certainly a premium case – and the price does reflect this. Overall if you’re willing to pay a bit extra then you will be getting one of the best cases available for the LG G4. I’ve used it quite a bit and there’s not a mark on it so I’d expect it to be very durable and easily last you for the life of your phone. While the holster won’t be for everyone, it has been well designed and is a good option to have for those who like their phone on their belt. Once you factor in the great looks, protection and how good it feels in the hand then I think you’ll find this case well worth the investment.
